Reflections from a small creative business
A small reminder about kindness in small business
Running a small creative business means wearing many hats at once — designer, maker, photographer, customer service, and sometimes even problem-solver in unexpected moments.
Over the last 10+ years, I've had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful customers, and it's something I never take for granted. I've been incredibly lucky to work with kind, thoughtful people whose support has helped my small business grow. I truly believe that the kindness people carry in their hearts shines through in the beautiful work they create, and it has been an honour to play a small part in so many creative journeys.

One thing I'd also love to say thank you for is communication. If you've ever enquired about a product and later changed your mind but taken a moment to let me know, thank you. There is never any pressure to buy, and I completely understand that plans, budgets, and ideas change. A simple message to say you've decided not to go ahead is always appreciated.
I'd also like to thank the customers who only promise to order when they're genuinely ready. As a small business owner, it's easy to get excited when someone says they'll be placing an order, especially when I'm making time to help, creating custom listings, or preparing products. I completely understand that circumstances change, but I've learned that actions mean more than promises. When you're ready, I'll always be happy to help—there's never any need to say, "I'll order today," unless you truly mean it.
Recently, I had one of those unexpected moments.
A pricing mistake on my website meant one of my prop sets was listed at the wrong price. A customer placed an order, and instead of canceling or disputing it, they chose to proceed with the purchase and requested a variation that aligned with what they felt the price represented.
After a short conversation, I chose to honour the order and move forward peacefully. It wasn't about being right or wrong—it was about choosing to keep things respectful and simple.
But it also made me reflect.
In small business, every product is created with care, time, and intention. Behind every listing is a person trying their best to balance creativity with sustainability. And on the other side, customers are also people making decisions based on what they see in the moment.

This experience reminded me how important kindness, honesty, and mutual respect are in both directions. Not just in big gestures, but in the small everyday interactions that shape how we all continue doing what we love.
I'm deeply grateful for every customer who has chosen to support my small business over the years. Your patience, encouragement, understanding, and trust mean more than you know. That support is what keeps small businesses going, and I appreciate each and every one of you.
And I'll continue doing my best—to create, to improve, and to treat every customer with the same care I hope to receive in return.
